What is an IFSC Code?
IFSC (Indian Financial System Code) is an 11-character code assigned by the Reserve Bank of India to identify bank branches participating in various online money transfer options. The code consists of 11 characters where:
- First 4 characters represent the bank code
- The 5th character is 0 (zero)
- Last 6 characters represent the branch code
